The Official Track List of Bad 25 is Out

From MichaelJackson.com:

HIGHLY ANTICIPATED PROJECT TO BE RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 18

New York, NY – Epic/Legacy Recordings in collaboration with the Estate of Michael Jackson today announced the highly anticipated track listing for the September 18th release of Michael Jackson BAD25   that celebrates the legendary album and record breaking BAD tour. Featured in the deluxe package, are three CDs, two collectible booklets, and the first ever authorized DVD release of a concert from the record breaking BAD World Tour – the July 16, 1988 sold out Wembley Stadium show in London.

Filled with previously re-mastered versions of iconic hits and un-released recordings from the King Of Pop, the BAD25 anniversary deluxe edition CDs and DVD will include the following:

CD one features re-mastered versions of Michael’s biggest hits on the original BAD album, including, “Smooth Criminal,”  “Man In The Mirror,” “Bad,” “Another Part of Me,” “The Way You Make Me Feel,” and “Dirty Diana” arranged in the same sequence as they appeared on the original album released 25 years ago. “Leave Me Alone” was added to the album as a bonus track following its initial release and has been included on the disc.

CD two offers fans a rare listen to thirteen additional tracks, 6 of which are previously unreleased demo recordings created at Michael’s personal studio built at his then-home on Hayvenhurst Avenue in Encino, California. Also included are all three bonus tracks from the 2001 expanded edition of BAD, the previously un-released French version of Michael performing the classic, “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You,” a high  power version of “Speed Demon” remixed by Nero and the brand new remix of “Bad” worked on as an electrifying collaboration between Pitbull and Dutch DJ Afrojack.

Recordings included in this package reflect the songs and spirit of Michael Jackson’s artistry during BAD’s recording sessions and have been selected to show the different stages of how Michael’s songwriting and recording genius took shape. Some tracks are so complete that any other artist but Michael Jackson – who worked tirelessly to make sure his songs reflected his vision – might consider them finished tracks. Others are less complete but offer insight into Michael’s creative process in its various stages. Included is the demo, “Al Capone,” an early incarnation of what ultimately became “Smooth Criminal,” “Don’t Be Messin’ Around,” an example of a more complete demo, and a song initially titled, “Song Groove.” That song later became known as “Abortion Papers” which according to Michael’s own records, he spent considerable time in weighing how best to thoughtfully address something that was, and remains, a very personal and sensitive issue.

A true highlight of the package is CD three and the DVD – the never seen before live concert on DVD and its accompanying music CD of Michael’s legendary July 16, 1988 concert at Wembley Stadium. The concert is not a compilation of performances, but rather one complete show, exactly as Michael performed it for Prince Charles, Princess Diana and the 72,000 fans who were in the audience for that night’s sold out show. This show was one of the seven record-breaking nights played at the venue attended by more than half a million people – three times that many people tried to purchase tickets. The DVD was sourced from Michael Jackson’s personal VHS copy of the performance as shown on the JumboTrons during the concert. This footage was only recently unearthed and is the only known copy of the show to exist. The visuals have now been restored and the audio quality enhanced so that fans can share in the excitement of that famous night in 5.1 surround sound taken from the original multitrack recordings made that night.

In addition to the complete Wembley Show, the DVD will also contain “The Way You Make Me Feel” from Michael’s July 15th performance at Wembley Stadium. This is the only song not performed on July 16th due to the late start of that night’s show. Also included are the thrilling early performances of “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” and “Bad” from the Yokohama Stadium performance in September of 1987 during the first leg of the BAD World Tour.

Official Statement Regarding the Release of the Wembley Performance

Via MJJUnderground:

It is great to see the overwhelming support and excitement in the fan community for the upcoming BAD 25 release.  A few questions have arisen regarding the Wembley concert DVD. Although the press release wasn’t the place for background details, here is more information:

•  We know that Nocturne captured on Umatic tapes the footage projected onto the JumboTrons at the various concerts including Wembley. These tapes were turned over to Michael’s crew and we have confirmed with Patrick Kelly (who headed Michael’s film crew for the European tour) that everything from Europe was sent to LA to be put in Michael’s storage facilities. The same procedures were followed for the US shows.

•  Unfortunately, record-keeping in the storage facilities was sporadic, at best, so we do not know what happened to a tape once it was sent for storage. In most cases, once a tape was pulled from the box it arrived in, it was not put back in the original box and where it wound up doesn’t always make sense. As a result, 25 years later not all of the Umatic tapes from the various shows can be located, notwithstanding that we have conducted an extensive survey of all of the storage facilities. So while we believe that the Umatic tape for Wembley was initially sent for storage, we have not been able to locate it. And with regard to the Umatic footage of other concerts, the audio is extremely problematic and therefore these concerts are unusable.

•  We know that VHS copies of the Umatics were made when Michael wanted to view a particular concert, but because of the lack of record-keeping, we also didn’t know which concerts existed on VHS. We ultimately did find Michael’s personal VHS viewing copy of the Wembley show attended by Princess Diana and Prince Charles, but not the Umatic. Even finding this VHS felt like a miracle to us!

•  So while we continued the search for the Wembley Umatic master, we also researched the audio recordings that existed from all of the concerts including Wembley. Fortunately, the Wembley audio recordings were made using a sound truck, and appear to be the only multi-track recordings from the tour. The other audio/visual recordings that exist, whether Umatic or VHS, are “front of house” mixes, and therefore there are no separate audio recordings that can be used to create a high quality listening experience. It is for this reason that the Wembley audio is the only one suitable to create a live album.

•  If we were going to include a live concert DVD in the BAD 25 release package, we had only one choice, Wembley. And there were only two options for visual – the Umatics for a different show or the VHS for Wembley. It would certainly be less expensive for the Estate to be able to create a DVD from a Umatic tape than to spend the time and money to painstakingly restore/enhance the VHS footage, but then we would not be delivering a truly authentic experience and we truly believe that watching this concert with the high quality audio will create a magical experience for all the fans as it has for us. We ultimately chose a lab that has developed its own proprietary technology for doing this kind of work (including restoration for NASA of VHS footage) in order to make the visual experience the best it can be under the circumstances.

We also could have chosen to release the Japanese concert from the first leg of the tour as there is a master of that show; but that concert was essentially a reincarnation of the Victory Tour with only two songs – “Bad” and “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” – added at the end. It isn’t what we believe the fans would want.

We could have elected not to release a DVD as part of the BAD 25 celebration (and hold out hope that someday we might find the Umatic of the Wembley concert) or we could share with the fans the chance to relive that magical night with pristine audio. We made the decision to go with the latter and provide the fans with the most authentic viewing experience. We believe that the fans will agree it was the right choice when the package is released in September.

Help Needed for Opportunity to Win Grant for “Words and Violence” Project

From Reverend B. Kaufmann:

How about some good news about Michael for a change?
Win a grant for Michael!
Hi. Rev. Kaufmann here and I have a favor to ask…
Will you please go to this link:
And vote for Voices Education Project’s “Words and Violence” to win a cash grant for marketing the curriculum dedicated to Michael Jackson and Lady Diana Spencer.

This is round one. In order to get into the finals for a cash prize, we must get enough votes now for “Words and Violence.”
We can do this! We can win some money to use to spread the word!
I will keep you posted when we enter round two.
But we have to get there first. Please go and vote!
Then share it on Facebook and tell all your friends and other fans. We need hundreds of votes!

On This Day in MJ HIStory

Scream was released on this day 17 years ago in 1995.

And here’s the short film:

And here’s a cute clip I found not included in the “Making Of Scream” video.

Also on this day, Michael’s album Dangerous was certified at 7 million copies by the RIAA.

“It’s All About L.O.V.E.- Michael Jackson Stories You Were Never Meant to Read”

It’s All About L.O.V.E.- Michael Jackson Stories You Were Never Meant to Read is a fan-created book detailing all those stories you’ve been dying to hear. That’s right! This book is an awesome work about the experiences of fans who have met Michael throughout the years.

“Packed with true stories of fans meeting Michael backstage right before his concert or on the set of “In the closet”, talking to Michael on the phone, giving an artwork-presentation to him, having a nightly conversation with him or even visiting Michael at home in Neverland.”

Authors, co-authors, and the editors are currently working on another book titled: “A Life for L.O.V.E.- Michael Jackson Stories You Should Have Heard Before”.

The following is from the authors and co-editors of the book (via VindicateMJ):

We are the editors and co-writers of the book “It’s all about L.O.V.E. – Michael Jackson stories you were never meant to read” (http://www.amazon.com/Its-all-about-L-V/dp/383914941X), a collection of stories by fans from around the world about their experiences with Michael. The book quickly became a bestseller among the worldwide fan community.

Currently we are working on a new book project which focuses on Michael’s humanitarian work, and again we intend to collect stories, this time of people whom Michael helped personally or through donations, and of people who have witnessed or arranged those meetings.
Just as our previous book, all proceeds from the new project will be donated to charity in Michael’s name.

Our inspiration for this project is the strong feeling that it is high time to make this very important aspect of Michael’s life finally more publicly known. He dedicated a big part of his life, time and money to helping others without wanting to attract attention with it, but now that he is no longer here, we believe it is up to us to set the record straight for him and to tell the world what he really was about through personal stories about experiences with him. Besides that we hope that we will be able to collect money for charity, like we did with our last book, and inspire people reading the stories to do something themselves, to continue Michael’s message of giving.

The structure of the book will be similar to the last book: a collection of many different stories. We have already started contacting several people and have gotten some wonderful stories. But we want more and know that there are much more out there! Michael helped all around the world and there are so many precious hidden stories that we cannot collect them alone. We need help from the whole fan community, which is hopefully as eager as we are to let the world know about Michael, the humanitarian.

It would be wonderful to get your support for this project! We have already re-launched our website mjjbook.com with a lot of information regarding this new project as well as a questionnaire for people who have some story to tell. So if you could inform your members about this project or let us do it, that would be a huge help. And as with our last book, we will not let it get by unnoticed but all our busy helpers will get special thank you’s in the book itself.

So please help us making this dream a reality for Michael. Please also feel free to forward this e-mail or our e-mail address (team@mjjbook.com) to anyone who you might think could be of help for us!
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!

It’s all about LOVE,
Brigitte Bloemen, Marina Dobler, Miriam Lohr & Sonja Winterholler

At their website titled MJJbook.com, you can also find excerpts from their previous book, and contact them if you or someone you know has a personal experience to share.

French TV Station Planning To Air Murray Documentary as “Tribute to Michael”

The following report brings to light the fact that some French TV station is scheduled to air Murray’s documentary as a tribute to Michael JacksonWhat is going through the minds of these people?! Why has decency and respect continued to be thrown out the window for Michael?

Needless to say, we have another situation on our hands where this matter needs to be made aware by anyone and everyone willing to help. And since this is scheduled to air June 20, 2012, we don’t exactly have that much time on our hands to get this problem fixed. Please, please do what you can. For Michael.

“French TV are planning to air Murray’s documentary on 20 June as “a tribute to Michael Jackson”.

Perhaps they do not realize the nature of the content …or are they just playing dumb?

French fans have organised a petition – not sure how much value these petitions are.
Can we support them by contacting French TV and objecting on moral grounds?  Murray is a convicted felon and it is no tribute to Michael for him to gain publicity or payment for his crime.  I’m currently awaiting a friend to get back to me with a translation for something I have written.  Perhaps some of us can speak French anyway,  but I think it would be also ok to object in English.  I can pass the translation on when I get it if anyone wants it.”

(Translation: I have discovered that your channel is going to show the Conrad Murray documentary on 20 June 1012 in order to pay tribute to Michael Jackson! You are not apparently aware that Dr Murray has been tried and convicted of the involuntary homicide of Mr Jackson. He is actually in prison. During the trial the judge was horrified and disgusted that not only did he show no remorse, but that Murray would gain money in selling this documentary where he not only makes excuses for his negligent and criminal behavior, but tries to blame his victim. For this reason I am asking that you reconsider your decision to broadcast the documentary. This film is immoral, an insult to the memory of Michael Jackson and is distressing for his family, particularly his children. )

Immediate Action is Needed: Kraft Wants to Hear From Fans

It has come to the attention of fans that some slanderous story involving a self-proclaimed “ex-lover” of Michael’s and Entertainment Tonight will be airing tonight. What’s different about this time is that a sponsor (Kraft foods) for ET Tonight wants us, fans of Michael Jackson, to let them know how we feel about ET Tonight and their eagerness to air this ridiculous story.
Kraft, apparently, did not know that Scott Thorson  (Liberace’s Ex-lover) will be on ET Tonight speaking about his ‘affair’ with Michael.  Some say this is an old story from around 2004, which in an attempt to slander Michael is probably resurrected now because there’s a movie of some sort in the works of being released. Nevertheless, we need to engage ourselves and anyone else who is on our side of this never-ending media battle against Michael Jackson, and voice our opinions!
Meanwhile, the dirt that we can dig up on this Thorson guy besides his involvement with Liberace was his appearance on Larry King in 2002 denying any gay relationships other than with Liberace. The first part was aired last night. Also (good to know) he is a convicted felon for armed robbery.

Michael Jackson Work Stolen Resulting From Sony Hack

Following this afternoon’s reports, it is evident that Sony was hacked twice last year and one of the hackings resulted in the theft of Michael’s material. The songs stolen were 2010 purchases from the deal between Sony and the Michael Jackson Estate.

SOURCE: http://www.mjjstreet.com/index.php?topic=1757.0

Michael Jackson’s entire back catalogue and a wealth of unreleased material worth €190 million has been stolen from Sony music by hackers in a second major security breach at the company within a year.

The hackers allegedly downloaded more than 50,000 digital music files in the biggest ever cyber attack on a record company.

Sony paid the Jackson estate $250 million dollars for a seven year deal in March 2010, nine months after the singers death aged 50.

The contract allowed for 10 new new albums including unreleased material from the studio sessions that produced the classics Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad.

Some of the previously unheard material includes duets with artists ranging from the late Freddie Murcury of Queen to the Black Eyed Peas singer Will.i.am.

“Everything Sony purchased from the Michael Jackson estate was compromised”, said a well placed source.

Hackers attacked Sony’s Playstation Network in April and stole the personal data of 77m users, including some credit card details. Sony’s share price fell and the security scandal cost it €127m and huge damage to its reputation.

The Jackson hack was discovered weeks after the Playstation hack but has not been revealed until now. It was discovered only from routine monitoring of social networking sites, Jackson fansites and hacking forums.

“It caused them to check their systems and they found the breach. There was a degree of sophistication”, the source added. “Sony identified the weakness and plugged the gap.”

The theft has implications for all living and dead Sony Music artist. The company distributes the Jimi Hendrix back catalogue, and its roster of artists includes Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen as well as newer acts such as Olly Murs, Chris Brown, Foo Fighters and Avril Lavigne.

The hack coming so soon after the previous cyber attack “would have made investors and artists think, “What other part of Sony isn’t secure” said the source.

Sony Music confirmed last night that it had been hacked and its Michael Jackson material stolen. The company refused to say how much was downloaded.

A Sony source said the company immediately alerted the Michael Jackson estate after the hack but had no obligation to make the theft public as it had not involved customer data.

The hackers allegedly left “fingerprints” on the server that allowed experts to identify IP addresses in the UK, the Sony source added.

The company then contacted the cybercrime wing of the Serious Organised Crime Agency, who took over the case.

Two men appeared in court this week charged with offences under the Computer Misuse Act.

They denied the charges and were remanded on bail.
